Fresh peel dehydrator

During the year 2016, Citrus Apatzingán added to its current facilities a fresh peel dehydration plant, which aims to produce dehydrated peel from the Mexican lime that serves as raw material for the production of pectin.

In this way, our industry will be taking advantage of 100% of the derivatives of Mexican lime.

The pectin is used as gelling and thickening agent in the manufacture of food products, pharmaceutical laboratories, among other industrialized products.

Fresh lemon peel, generated by the oil and juice extractors, is collected for a later dehydration process through an extremely careful industrial process, with cutting edge technology, to be able to provide high quality standards.

Subsequently, fresh peel is sent to disintegration process, which perfectly cuts the material into small particles.

The process continues with washing and pressing to remove excess water and impurities in the raw material.

In the same process it is then transported to a drier at highly controlled temperature which keeps turning slowly to remove excess water.

The dehydrated peel must contain moisture that is between 8 and 12 percent.

It is important to mention that our disintegration plant operates 24 hours a day to be able to supply our product according to the demand of our customers.

Finally, the dehydrated peel is transferred to a pressing hopper where the peel is then compressed and packaged in polypropylene bags to be shipped to the national and international markets to make use in many different industrial processes.
